Program
St. Philip House provides eight units of scattered site housing at its facility in Plainville. The agency also has additional scattered site units in Plainville, Bristol, Farmington, and New Britain.
Mission
The mission of St. Philip House is to provide access to safe and affordable housing, increase community awareness through education, provide support services to people living with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones, and encourage empowerment.
Background
Founded in 1989, Saint Philip House has been providing services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS since 1990. The program was created to enhance the quality of life for persons living with HIV/AIDS through the development of a community where all necessary services to live with dignity are available and where the individual is empowered to determine the course of his or her life.
Population Served
The program serves individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The program services individuals who are relatively independent yet require support and assistance in obtaining services. Persons with a history of substance abuse must be clean for six months prior to entering the program. St. Philip House will serve persons living with HIV/AIDS from any geographic location.
Services Provided
St. Philip House provides case management, including the coordination of medical, legal and other services, transportation, on-site laundry services, educational, creative, spiritual and recreational group activities, periodic on-site support groups, assistance with daily chores, and financial management assistance. Twenty-four hour beeper coverage is also available.
