Program

Omega House, a program of Perception Programs, Inc., is a ten-bed, supportive living facility located in Willimantic. It is the only residence for persons living with HIV/AIDS in the state east of the Connecticut River.

Mission

The mission of the Omega House is to enable people with HIV/AIDS to manage their illness through a holistic approach that engages their mind, body, and spirit.

Background

Omega House was founded in 1993 to provide supportive living and services for people living with HIV/AIDS who are also homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The need for supportive housing for people living with HIV/AIDS in this area is evident.

Population Served

The program serves men and women of all ages, race or ethnicity living with HIV/AIDS who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Many of our clients are referred to us from drug treatment programs and from the Department of Corrections. We accept people living with all stages of HIV disease except for the last, end-stage AIDS, as we are not a skilled nursing or hospice facility. Our clients are expected to be capable of independent living. They must be able to cook and clean, bathe themselves, and do their own laundry. Admission isdetermined on an individual basis and Omega House accepts individuals from anygeographic area. Clients may stay for as long as they choose as long as they remain in good standing with the program.
