Program
New Haven Home Recovery is a multi-service agency providing a continuum of housing and stabilization services to families in need since 1990. The SHP AIDS program operates 45 units of supportive housing to homeless or at risk families with HIV/AIDS. NHHR owns and operates 10 of the 45 units, the remaining 35 are scattered throughout New Haven and the surrounding towns. Families consists of any adult(s) with a dependent child living in the home. Services include intensive in-home case management services, clinical services (substance abuse / mental health), food, clothing, furniture and evening and weekend phone coverage.

The mission of New Haven Home Recovery is: to promote the independence of women and children confronting homelessness, HIV/AIDS, and behavioral health issues in a supportive environment where their potential can be realized.
Background
NHHR has been providing supportive services and housing to families since 1990. The agency’s mission is to promote the independence of women and children confronting homelessness, HIV/AIDS, and behavioral health issues in a supportive environment where their potential can be realized. NHHR operates two emergency homeless shelters for women and children, over 100 units of supportive housing for families and two family stabilization programs, one in Fair Haven and one in Bridgeport. In addition, NHHR operates a regional furniture bank called The Furniture Co- Op and a thrift store, which provides donated furniture to households in need.
Population Served
The scattered site program serves families living with HIV/AIDS. The primary resident must be living with symptomatic HIV disease or an AIDS diagnosis. Active substance abusers must enter into a treatment program prior to admission. The agency primarily serves families from the Greater New Haven area.
Services Provided
New Haven Home Recovery offers case management services, advocacy, substance abuse counseling, support groups, housing location, and landlord/tenant mediation.
