Leeway, Inc. is a forty bed skilled nursing facility located in New Haven.
Mission
Leeway, an integral part of the AIDS continuum of AIDS care, is committed to being a center of excellence in providing inpatient rehabilitative and palliative care and creating new community treatment options so that those with AIDS can live as independently as possible. This expert care is respectfully provided with compassion and without regard to race, national origin, age, religion, handicap, gender or sexual orientation with a focus on the integration of body, mind, and spirit. We are committed to promoting quality of life and dignity to all those with HIV/AIDS.
Background
Leeway, Inc. officially opened in September 1995 and admitted its first patients in October 1995. Leeway was created to provide compassionate individualized care for people with AIDS who require twenty-four hour nursing care and supervision. It is a private non-profit organization.
Population Served
Leeway serves individuals with HIV/AIDS age sixteen and over, who are sick enough to require twenty-four hour nursing care and supervision. Individuals must be drug-free upon admission. People enrolled in Methadone maintenance can continue this treatment at Leeway. Admission to Leeway requires a physician’s referral.
Services Provided
Twenty-four hour individualized nursing care and supervision are provided at Leeway. Services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, whirlpool treatments, and supervision with medications and treatments. Leeway also offers case management, individual counseling, family counseling, substance abuse counseling, support groups, NA/AA meetings, and recreational activities.
