Shelter, transitional and permanent supportive housing.

Mission

To serve people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless by providing shelter and housing and by fostering their personal growth.

Background

Since 1982, Columbus House has provided shelter, housing and services to single adults who are homeless in the Greater New Haven area.

Population Served

Single adult women and men.

Services Provided

Housing opportunities include shelter, transitional and permanent supportive housing. Case management services include gender specific services for women, prison re-entry programs, recovery support/relapse prevention/harm reduction, employment services, and peer support. Street outreach offers support for people living outside, under bridges, in encampments, in abandoned buildings, providing basic needs and services to help people move toward housing and recovery. HPRP: prevention and re-housing support offered by appointment.

Additional Features

Columbus House Road to Recovery program offers transportation across the state to eligible DMHAS clients who are moving between levels of care.
